Queer Empowerment by Art

Queer Empowerment by Art
Queer Empowerment by Art

When: June 3-8, 2013
Where: Berlin
Who’s eligible: From the pool of applicants, TransInterQueer will choose some 13 participants with a permanent residency in one of the 27 EU member states (except Germany) or Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey – identifying as intersex, trans, bisexual, gay, lesbian, queer, neither_nor, genderbender, and much more.
This six-days workshop gets you to know artistic materials and visual techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, techniques of collage and printing. Practical experiences with art aren’t necessarily required.
The participants are interested in expressing themselves via experimenting with techniques and means of expression in visual art, and in connecting art with personal issues.
By playful experimenting participants can discover individual creative preferences and means of expression, supported by two queer art therapists. The workshop is less a “teaching” of artistic methods but a field of playful experimenting with means of art in order to get closer to personal issues based on methods of art therapy.
The participants can be creative on their own as well as in the group. Artistic methods will be both issue-specific and focusing on free creativity.
The workshop wants to offer a safer space where experiences around sexual and gender identity and individual life scripts are dealt with by art and in mutual respect.
Costs for accommodation and group meals during the workshop will be covered. Travel costs will be reimbursed up to 250 Euro. Need-based individual exceptions may be negotiated.
Please make use of the ONLINE APPLICATION and submit the application form with all information required:

The call for applications will close on Feb 3, 2013. Applicants will be notified until February 25, 2013.

The workshop is funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Program Grundtvig (workshop no. 2012-1-DE2-GRU13-11821)
